Parish Councillor Vacancy - Could you be our next Parish Councillor?

Could You Be Our Next Parish Councillor?

Otham Parish Council is looking to co‑opt two new councillors, and we’d love to hear from residents who care about our community and want to play a part in shaping its future.

What does a parish councillor do?

Being a parish councillor is all about:

  • Representing local people and helping ensure their voices are heard
  • Discussing and influencing local issues, from planning applications to community projects
  • Supporting village events and initiatives
  • Working with fellow councillors to make decisions that benefit Otham

You don’t need any special qualifications—just enthusiasm, a willingness to listen, and a desire to make a positive difference. Training and support are available, and the time commitment is modest: usually one meeting every other month plus the occasional community activity.

Why get involved?

It’s a chance to:

  • Help keep Otham a wonderful place to live
  • Bring fresh ideas and perspectives
  • Learn new skills and meet new people
  • Contribute to decisions that directly affect your neighbourhood

If you’re interested or would like an informal chat about what’s involved, please contact Teresa, the Parish Clerk. We’d be delighted to tell you more.
